Exploring AI for Dental Hygienists Sponsor: Overjet
Presented by: Bridget Reilly, RDH
Thursday, September 10 6pm-7:30 pm 1.5 CEU core
This interactive, virtual course explores how artificial intelligence (AI) supports radiographic interpretation and patient communication in the dental hygiene practice. Participants will review sample radiographs and compare their visual assessments to AI-assisted insights that highlight patterns and areas of interest. The session emphasizes practical application within the hygienist’s scope, showing how AI enhances accuracy, consistency, and confidence—while reinforcing that AI serves as a supportive, not diagnostic, tool.
Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:
-
Define the basics of how dental AI works, including its role in supporting radiographic interpretation for caries, calculus, bone levels, and DMF percentages.
-
Analyze AI-enhanced radiographic insights to identify trends related to periodontal health and treatment planning within the hygienist’s scope.
-
Evaluate how dental AI can be incorporated into dental team workflows to improve consistency, communication, and patient understanding.
-
Discuss strategies for presenting AI findings to patients in a clear, ethical, and compliant manner.
